EV+ betting: backing mispriced lines
Expected value (EV) is the average return a bet would yield if you placed it many times over. A price is *EV+* when it implies a lower probability than the outcome's true (fair) probability — the book is paying you more than the risk is worth. Consistently backing EV+ prices over a large sample is what separates disciplined bettors from punters.

We derive a fair probability for every outcome from the sharp consensus, then compare it against each bookmaker's price. When a book sits above fair value, we flag the gap as an EV+ signal — on the EV+ board and as `fair_odds`, `fair_prob`, and a `vs_fair` delta in the API.
EV is a long-run expectation, not a per-bet promise — variance means individual bets still lose. No outcome is guaranteed.

'Steam' is a rapid, broad shortening of a price as money pours in — often driven by sharp bettors or breaking team news. A dropping line is the market revising an outcome's probability upward in real time. Spotting it early lets you take value before it's fully priced in.

Arbitrage betting: locking a return across books
An arbitrage ('arb') exists when bookmakers price the same event far enough apart that backing every outcome — at the right stakes, across books — locks in a return regardless of result. Arbs are small, short-lived, and vanish as prices re-align.

We scan prices across books continuously and surface live arbitrage windows with the profit percentage and the exact stake split per leg — on the Arbitrage board and via the `/arbitrage` endpoint (`profit_pct`, `legs`, `stakes`).
